Fight Club Mullins Style

"There's people been friendly, but they'll never be a friend. Sometimes this has bent me to the ground."

[It's that time of year again, Voidfans: time to beat the hell outta myself. Some NaOH on the back of the hand and a proper ear-boxing, and i'm confident things'll start brightening up. There's something about the season change, and something about not sleeping for the last decade that makes me cogitate with dreamy, pathetic hopefulness upon fixing What Has Been Broken. But while contrition and tears aren't all that hard to summon, and genuine self-loathing is as near as the gravity needed to pull my eyes to the floor, healing a broken heart and a broken ego-- it turns out-- is the business and domain of God alone.

we are not as strong as we think we are generally does magnificent things for the depth of m' stare, and in a few cases has almost led to a wreck. Peace and Grace.]

It took the hand of God Almighty
To part the waters of the sea,
But it only took one little lie
To separate you and me
Oh we are not as strong
As we think we are

And they say that one day Joshua
He made the sun stand still in the sky,
But i can't even keep these thoughts of you
From passing by
Oh we are not as strong
As we think we are

Chorus
we are frail
we are fearfully and wonderfully made;
Forged in the fires of human passion
Choking on the fumes of selfish rage,
And with these our hells and our heavens
So few inches apart
we must be awfully small
And not as strong as we think we are

And the master said the faith was
Gonna make the mountains move,
But me i tremble like a hill on a faultline
Just at the thought of how i lost you
Oh we are not as strong
As we think we are

[Chorus]

Bridge
And if you make me laugh,
Well, i know i can make you like me
'Cause when i laugh i can be a lot of fun.
And when we can't do that i know that it is frightening
What i don't know is why we can't hold on
Can't hold on

[Chorus]

When you love you walk on the water
Just don't stumble on the waves.
we all want to go there somethin' awful,
But to stand there it takes some grace
'Cause oh we are not as strong
As we think we are

Post Christening

Guess i owe a new blogging on here, since the last one left a few things hanging. I don't think we'd managed to give our new young'un a name last time. Her name's Katarina Dawn (or we've taken to calling her "Katja.") She was in the NICU for two weeks on a pic line having an anti-viral med pumped through her, but she's since come home and is doing perfectly. Thank you to those of you praying for her. i'll try to get some more pics up if i manage to take anymore before she's a teenager. Peace and so forth.

Revolution

i'm sick of looking at my dog when i open this page, so i'll deviate (as is not a bit uncommon) and recommend a book you. Whether or not you like him, or agree with what you've been allowed to hear from him, do go get and read Ron Paul's new book, The Revolution: A Manifesto. It's an eye opening history of the conservative, starkly existentialist roots of America and its constitution, and brings up some mind-bogglingly simple points fastidiously avoided by the chosen talking heads on the present stage, as well as some questions in desperate want of answers. Also (to my great pleasure) it is quite naturally devoid of the wackjob conspiracists that've haunted Paul's campaign like the stench on an unwashed fat guy.

Here's a small excerpt that aptly sums up much of what Paul has to say with respect to our economic woes that, in his estimation, are inextricably bound to a terribly sick foreign / domestic policy. He quotes Felix Morley from Freedom and Federalism who has cited Adolf Hitler respecting his views on a "powerful national government," after which Morley elucidates: "...the problem of empire-building is essentially mystical. It must somehow foster the impression that a man is great in the degree that his nation is great; that a German as such is superior to a Belgian as such; an Englishman, to an Irishman; an American, to a Mexican: merely because the first-named countries are in each case more powerful than their comparatives. And people who have no individual stature whatsoever are willing to accept this poisonous nonsense because it gives them a sense of importance without the trouble of any personal effort."
There seems to be no limit to what our remote federal government is willing to spend our money (or, for that matter, our freedoms) on, provided it doesn't directly cost any of them anything.

Savage 2.5

Temporarily stealing a few rays of limelight from our as-yet-unborn daughter, i'd like to introduce the newest member of our familia to you, the reticent Void. This is Emily. She's a 3 yr. old Blue Merle Australian Cattle Dog. we found her at the animal shelter a few days ago, and she graciously deigned join our li'l circus troupe. we took her out to see how she'd be with the kiddoes, and they immediately fell in love with her, shortly whereafter Annie dubbed her "Emily." This is good because it keeps us from feeling the need to name our child Emily or Emma. Annie's had an obsession with the name for three years or so, both kids have stuffed dogs named Emma, Annie's got a couple of dolls named Emily, and she's recently taken to calling everything in our house Emily. Don't know if she picked it up from the Thompson's kid or from the character in "Clifford the Big Red Dog," but hopefully this'll get it outta her system ('cuz i'm tired of being called Emily).

At any rate, she's about the sweetest dog i've ever met, she's super chill, and she gives us a nice round number of children without Steph having to bear any more, and without the impending college tuition.

Third Savage

You will be surprised to find out that it's a girl. i'd post up a pic (and, indeed, still probably will) only she was a li'l camera-shy, and her arms and a knee thrown over her face.
