No matter how much oatmeal you put down, if you're not a Norah Jones fan your blood pressure isn't as low as it could be. If e'er you're tweaking for some Blue-- the hang-yer-head-and-bob-it, wrap't-in-a-vision, inhale-the-self-loathing kind of Blue-- then i've to recommend the last half of Feels Like Home. i've burned a hole through this disc since i got it a few weeks ago. A friend from work borrowed it from me for a few days and said that the last track made him want to smile and put a gun in his mouth. So if you're in the mood for a lonely burn, maybe you can find a savory Blue on this one. Here're the lyrics to "Humble Me":
Went out on a limb
Gone too far
Broke down at the side of the road
Stranded at the outskirts and sun's creepin' up
Baby's in the backseat
Still fast asleep
Dreamin' of better days
I don't want to call you but you're all I have to turn to
What do you say
When it's all gone away?
Baby I didn't mean to hurt you
Truth spoke in whispers will tear you apart
No matter how hard you resist it
It never rains when you want it to
You humble me Lord
Humble me Lord
I'm on my knees empty
You humble me Lord
You humble me Lord
Please, please, please forgive me
Baby Teresa got your eyes
I see you all the time
When she asks about her daddy
I never know what to say
Heard you kicked the bottle
and helped to build the church
You carry an honest wage
Is it true you have someone keeping you company?
What do you say
When it's all gone away?
Baby I didn't mean to hurt you
Truth spoke in whispers will tear you apart
No matter how hard you resist it
It never rains when you want it to
You humble me Lord
Humble me Lord
I'm on my knees empty
You humble me Lord
You humble me Lord
Please, please, please forgive me
Went out on a limb
Gone too far
Broke down at the side of the road
Stranded at the outskirts and sun's creepin' up
Baby's in the backseat
Still fast asleep
Dreamin' of better days
I don't want to call you but you're all I have to turn to
What do you say
When it's all gone away?
Baby I didn't mean to hurt you
Truth spoke in whispers will tear you apart
No matter how hard you resist it
It never rains when you want it to
You humble me Lord
Humble me Lord
I'm on my knees empty
You humble me Lord
You humble me Lord
Please, please, please forgive me
Baby Teresa got your eyes
I see you all the time
When she asks about her daddy
I never know what to say
Heard you kicked the bottle

why are you always blue?
you should try a different color.
Well now there's a blanket statement. Why do you always jump to superlatives? You should try a different degree of drama. Give "sometimes" or "often" or maybe just an -er ending a chance.
'Sides, blue isn't about being sad; it's about perspective. And that's very happy in the end.
I love you Cody. You might be "blu-er" sometimes but your still a child-ren of Jesus. Sorry, I don't think I know Norah Jones. I'll wait till the next post. Still read it eve-ry day.
I love you, Smurf.
Aww. Warm; fuzzy; pink ------->
Ha, ha. Yeah, you're a simple one, alright. You betcha. Thanks for the recommend. i'll try to pick it up. Why is it one of the most encouraging books you've read? Or why is that ironic, pr'ythee?
Yeah. i read that quote last night, and thought about it over and over, "...a door slammed in your face, and a sound of bolting and double bolting on the inside."
We just watched "The Miracle Maker" this morning, and it occured to me how far away from Jesus i've gotten, as in how long it'd been since i'd actually heard the story and thought about it. It must've felt that way to Him when He was begging God to come up with another way, that sound of slamming and bolting. If i suffer from anything it's just the slow grind of earth, or maybe the feeling of constant bouts of bad luck or my innately bad timing. i've never really suffered. So it's kinda funny to talk about dealing with suffering. For me (at least now) to talk about suffering, to sing the blues, is just to mock my own little annoyances. And if someone else laughs with me, then we're a kind of family. And if i practice enough at mocking myself, maybe i'll be able to do it when i really am suffering by someone else's standards.
Hey Cody,
I like Norah Jones !!:)
Here's a couple cd's that are along the lines of what you said.
James Blunt - Back to Dedlum
Blue October - foiled
Very real, not (totally)depressing but talk about real emotions and life. I like them and listen to them all the time, almost all their songs are great (there's a few that are questionable:)

Dear Simpleton,
"Optimism to a terminally ill cancer patient or a quadriplegic is about as useless as a 'get well soon' card. Hope is different, and those who suffer greatly must depend heavily on it."
This is a great quote.
Love, Complexaton
