On a much brighter note...

we just got back from a trip to Denver, where we visited some friends, and picked up a much needed dosage of fellowship and altitude. Whilst there, we took a day off from our rigourous routine of lazing about and otherwise hardcore slouching to take the wiv's 'n' chiddlers out climbing.

Here're a couple o' pixels of my altogether unkempt barbarians having narrowly staved off pica and rickets.

Following are some pics of la hija mia pulling down the slab start to a 5.9 at the Little Eiger in Cold Creek Canyon-- still one of my most favoritest crags in the universe. The slab probably goes at about 5.6. This is the first time she'd ever been on real rock, and she took to it so naturally, i had a hard time not beaming in a proud fashion. So i just gave in, and beamed in a proud fashion.

Great pics, Cody. The kids look so dang grown-up already. That Annie is a little spider. And as I recall, the gal never understood the concept of fear in the first place. You may have a climber on your hands.
Yeah, i figure if she'd stick with it, she'll be way better than i am by the time she's 7. There's a strong relationship between being a good climber and weighing 35 lbs. methinks. Very good to hear from you brutha'.
Today I cut up my climbing rope to make swings for the kids. Oh, the symbolism...
I didn't mind though. It was nearing the end of its shelflife and saved me buying some. When I do get the opportunity I just boulder, and I don't think crash pads have a shelflife.
Dynamic rope makes bouncy swings.
Yeah that climbing session was the first time i'd been on my rope in several years, so when i lowered off the anchors, i did some sincere praying that the core was still intact. Li'l scary being on an old rope. Maybe i'll make the chiddlers a bungy jump station outta it. You could sure make a heck of a swing out of a 5o meter rope.
Ha, yeah. I'm sure the kids were safe enough on yours. Maybe not you, but at least the kids.
